EMPLOYEE RELATION
Introduction
Overberg Water Board employs employees who have a mix of qualifications, skills and experience instrumental to creating value and long-term sustainability for the organisation. The Entity’s goals and Human Resources needs are mutual, compatible, and strongly interdependent. The role of Human Resources is therefore, to create and maintain an environment that is supportive for employees to enable the Entity to achieve its strategic objectives.
Employee Profile
At the end of the financial year under review, the Entity had a staff compliment of 52 permanent employees, and 4 temporary employees. The Table below shows the representation Of employees per occupational levels as at the 30 June 2024. Sound progress is being made on the Overberg Water employment equity profile. Overberg Water is currently focusing on the overall higher representation for people with disability and African females.
Appointments
In the reporting period (2023/2024) the Entity filled the IT Practitioner in the IT/Finance division. The Entity is currently in the final Processes of appointing Systems 1 Area Manager, Financial Accountant, Supply Chain Practitioner and General Workers which is set to assume duty in July and August of 2024. The processes for filling positions such as Process Controllers, SCM Manager, HR Manager and a Admin Clerk, are also due the first half of the 2024/2025 financial year. The Entity remains committed to continue addressing this situation, by putting more emphasis on recruiting and promoting employees from the African female groups as well as employees with disabilities.
Terminations
The Tables below represents the various terminations the Entity experienced during the financial year under review. Of the 8 terminations 4 was due to resignations, 2 Fixed-term Contractors that got permanent employment, 1 retirement and 1 medical incapacity.
